Don’t wait for me – a song http://bit.ly/17wlFX6

My latest foray into the world of trying to be a one-man-band. I think this is the first song I’ve written where I didn’t immediately think, “Oh yeah, it sounds like such-and-such a band”, I’m sure others will disagree and that repeating guitar figure is reminiscent of a certain Strokes song and the overall new waveness of the drums and structure is a bit, dare I say it Blondie, but with a slightly lower voice? What do you think? Have a listen on SoundCloud and leave comments there or below.

Don’t wait for me

And though, the waiting game is over, There’s never time to really change your mind
You’ll see that if at first it’s clover, Next time, it’s thorns that you will find

Don’t wait for me, I won’t be coming
Don’t to turn to see, what you think you left behind
If at first, you really don’t feel anything
Then the blind don’t need to lead the blind

There’s a time and a turning point for everything, And everything will turn out in the end
You’ll know the thorns will cut and tear your fragile skin, Next time let armour be your friend

Don’t look at me, I won’t be running
Don’t turn away, from what you see ahead
If at first you really don’t feel anything
Then the rest is better left unsaid

At last, the wounds begin their healing, But, skin bears the scars just the same
I know that armour won’t save your feelings, In the end, it’s such a vicious game

Don’t wait for me, I won’t be coming
Don’t to turn to see, what you think you left behind
If at first, you really don’t feel anything
Then the blind don’t need to lead the blind
Don’t wait for me, don’t wait for me, don’t wait

[By the time this song posts on Songs, Snaps & Science the Fen Edge Family Festival 2013 will be pretty much over, bar the Sunday night fighting. Actually, the song posts at 21:12, so there may be another couple of hours to go. At that point, I will have performed with guitar in hand solo and in duets, trios with great friends Adrian Hillier, Simon Oliver, Andrea Thompson, Tim and Siobhan, bigMouth and The (one and only) TyrannoChorus choirs, hopefully earplugs weren’t flying off the shelves]

Comments in from the Songwriter Forum about “Don’t Wait for Me”:

“Good poppy/prog song, well arranged. Think you ticked the structure, catchy rock box. And wow what a guitar riff…”

“now that was a pleasant listen…sounds good to me…what a drive!”
